Wii Play the Drums This is a fun little piece of software that turns your wiimote into a drum kit. It uses natural drum-kit motions to trigger sounds, and it is easy to set up on any windows pc. You can get the source code here.

Wiimote Guitar v0.1
Recently, a friend that I play video games with told me how much he liked my Wiimote Drum Kit. So, I was spurred on to create a new instrument with the wiimote.
I wrote this up in about two weeks, but I think it is in a state where some of you out there in internet-land my get some enjoyment out of it.
It is a basic wiimote guitar that can be played similar to the way you strum a real guitar. Hold a direction on the d-pad to select a chord, and swing your wiimote up and down to strum.
To use it, you will need a wiimote, a PC, a blutooth dongle, .Net Version 2.0 (will dl automatically), and the wii guitar software.
A lot of people have had trouble connecting their wiimotes to their PCs. One thing that I recently discovered is that only one of your wiimotes will connect to your PC. I guess it has something to do with how they aresynced to your wii, but I had to try a couple different wiimotes before I could get one to REALLY connect.
I'm going to post a video about setting up the connection some time soon.
If you have any comments on it, or run into any bugs, put them in the comments section. I will try to address everyone, but I can't make any guarantees.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I used Brian Peek's .Net wiimote wrapper for this.
loserkidsblink182 at 2007-11-28 01:42:30 Hey Evan,
Just know that I went out and bought a bluetooth dongle just for this application.
Since, I've discovered the joys of glovepie and using Wii controllers to play Halo. Hours, and hours of fun :].
The only thing I CAN'T get to work is this program. Whereas my controller IS connected, when I try to start the program, it says it can't find the Wii Remote. I open my bluetooth interface, and it shows my controller is connected fine.
I think it might be worth mentioning that my dongle isn't compatible with BlueSoleil, which a lot of people use, but then again, I can connect to glovepie fine.
Hoping the bugs get fixed so I can try out this program!
evan at 2007-11-28 06:24:04 Yeah, unfortunately, getting a wiimote properly connected in windows is difficult. It doesn't really give you any indication of whether you are actually connected or not. GlovePIE avoids a lot of the windows crap, I believe (although I know very little about GlovePIE). My software is, unfortunately, intimately tied to windows via the .Net platform. One thing to check is, when you go into Bluetooth places, select your wiimote and click Status (I believe). If your device is connected, then it should show data going both ways on the little progress bar.
I am going to do a video about properly connecting wiimotes to windows XP machines, because it IS tricky. I will try to do that tonight.
Thanks for your feedback.. I will do my best to make sure you get connected!

A. Meeder at 2008-03-13 06:55:26.Net Managed Libraries for DirectX I use Bluesoleil Bluetooth drivers which work very well width Windows XP and Vista and Wii Remote. Your Wii Drum and Wii Guitar didn't work on my machine. There was no exception so the Wiimote was found but I didn't hear anything. I try to recompiled your Wii Drum sources but Visual Studio complains about the Managed DirectX libraries so I downloaded the Microsoft DirectX SDK, installed it and recompiled your Wii Drums solution and now it works perfectly well. You version of the Wii Guitar still didn't work on the machine with the SDK. I don't know why maybe I have to recompile it first but you didn't publish the source. Maybe this will help you find out why so much people have problems with Wii Drums etc.
Thank you for your software.
